Discover the Difference in Every Practice
There are 8 billion human beings on this planet. Everyone is unique in their
culture, upbringing, and belief systems. All of these characteristics and
circumstances are essential to understanding how the disease of addiction
has impacted individuals and their families. At Myrina, we believe in taking
the individual as a whole, providing them with the tools for the long-term,
and supporting their journey with tailor-fit personalized treatment plans.
Experienced & Compassionate Staff
Myrina, a professional and academic foundation, believes that education
and experience is required when working with a chronic disease such as
addiction. More importantly, when this kind of professionality is combined
with personal experiences, magic happens. Everyone has experienced the
disease in some way, whether directly or indirectly with a friend or loved
one. The heart of growth is acceptance combined with empathy and
knowledge. The process can make us stronger.
Supportive Community Environment
Addiction is lonely and isolating – what once was a way to deal with life’s
ups and downs, over time has become like a lover that is never faithful. You
love it no matter what, but it doesn’t love you back! Accepting someone
with all their strengths and weaknesses is a delicate balance. An individual
should have support while trying to put life back on track. Guidance
towards occupation, education, and basic life skills are mostly overlooked.
Usually, small things matter the most. We are here to help on every level we
can. We know the best reward is to see someone growing out of the
stagnation of hurting themselves and into living their life to their full
potential.
“In-Patient Case Management”
When somebody approaches us and we determine they need an inpatient and/or a dual-diagnosis program, our clinical team will help them find the right place according to their needs. Once the brain chemistry and the medical complications are stabilized, the journey to recovery will begin with our long-term care program.
Our Approach to Recovery
Myrina has an eclectic way of approaching healing. We consider scientific
methods, as well as different on life. There are many ways to help an
individual including recreational therapies, physical therapies, spiritual
approaches like meditations and guided imagery, sound healing, art therapy,
and many more. All of these methods are powerful ways to help guide
someone to a healthier life. We believe people need not be miserable during
the recovery process and beyond. If they can’t find ways to enjoy a healthier
life, they won’t give up their unhealthy ways to deal with life itself.
“Why Long-Term Therapy & Counseling is a must?”
Addiction is a disease that has multiple layers and components. There are
genetic and biological sides, life experiences and the emotions attached to
them, as well as social implications. Activating what is embedded by
choosing the way to heal oneself is the beginning, while the second phase is
experiences in active addiction. This process is usually overlooked in
treatment. For example, if the addict is 19 years old, the counselor must
address all 19 years of life and not just the last year of “addiction”. We can’t
expect the addict to put their life together and heal 19 years in just a few
hours with the counselor. They need motivation and support to learn the
skills they mostly didn’t learn while in the active addiction, get to know who
they are, and find out where they belong in life. Just like physical growth,
they need to build strong coping skills for every day stressors. We believe
that once sobriety is achieved, at least 1 year in recovery is needed to grow
the best skills to deal with triggers. The notion that people need to figure it
out themselves is just a utopic idea because everyone needs help. A new
way of life should include a process of physical, mental, emotional, and
spiritual discovery. Sustaining this new way of life happens overtime. We
are pledged to walk with them until they graduate them from the school of
recovery.
At Myrina, we’re not going to ask for any kind of payment from the people
who get therapy from our clinicians. Every dollar donated will be allocated
towards operations.
